Visit this scenic part of Italy at the most beautiful time of year. Poppies in bloom, cuckoos singing, festivals being celebrated. Paint, walk, sightsee through ancient hill towns of Assisi, Spello, Gubbio, Perugia. Stay at La Malvarina which dates back to the fifteenth century but has been tastefully restored by the owners in classic country style. Maria Maurillo and her family take pride in maintaining its impeccably groomed grounds. Immersed in an oak forest, Malvarina provides rooms with private bathrooms, all carefully refurbished in classic country style. Part of the old wine cellar has been converted into an intimate dining room. Here you will enjoy the immense variety of Maria’s cooking of old traditional Umbrian recipes using home grown produce. Maria has been featured in Bon Appetit and on CNN. From our homebase of La Malvarina, we will travel the countryside, painting each day but also doing some sightseeing with local guides.

Painting in Ireland
August 24--Sept. 1, 2008

Artist and art educator, Paula Beaulieu M.Ed. will escort you on this affordable dream vacation that combines painting and traveling through the West Coast of Ireland known for its extraordinary magical light. You'll be combining relaxation with learning to paint in watercolor.

Lodging will be at the Hylands Burren Hotel. A warm welcome of an open fire mixed with the tranquillity of bygone charm and traditional Irish hospitality will greet you upon arrival at the Hyland's Burren Hotel. The hotel's relaxing atmosphere matched by quality service and standard is what makes the hotel so special.

From Ballyvaughan, we will explore and paint the countryside at a leisurely pace giving you time to just savor this beautiful country. We will travel to the mighty majestic Cliffs of Moher. We’ll explore the Burren and its unusual rock formations. Then, we’ll travel north to Dunguaire Castle to paint and on to Galway with its colorful buildings, lively center, and beautiful bay enhanced by the swans that grace it with their presence. We’ll breakfast at the majestic Dromoland Castle and tour the gardens. We’ll take a ferry to the Aran Islands where the old ways are preserved and Gaelic flourishes. Each day there will be time to sketch or paint in whatever medium you choose. There will be some directed instruction as well on most of the days.
