This versatile man-made polymer paint hit the art world in 1950s and has gained popularity ever since. Dilute the paints with water to create transparent washes of color in watercolor effect or use the paints thicker, building up layers of paint that can mimic oils. Create interesting textures through using brush strokes, palette knives and other objects and solutions added to the surface to create a mixed media. We'll explore line, color, value, texture, and composition in an informal setting. This class will have a studio approach with students working on their own subject matter with short teacher demonstrations when appropriate. Open to beginners and intermediates. Continuing and new students welcome.
Continuing the Drawing Series, we wil focus on the Landscape. Observe clouds, trees, mountains, valleys, and streams as you learn to draw them realistically. Learn how to create shapes, hard/soft edges, texture, lights and darks for effective, dramatic landscapes. Please bring a thin-tipped black Sharpie, #2 pencil, soft vine charcoal, a grey kneaded eraser, and a large pad of newsprint paper.
