The Artist, Paula Beaulieu

     Paula

A certified art teacher and educator, Paula Beaulieu lives and works in Salem, Massachusetts and has been a painter of watercolors for over twenty five years. Prior to that time she painted in oils and experimented with various other media including acrylic, charcoal, pen and ink, copper enameling, cloisonne, silk screening, wood carving, and printmaking. She continues to experiment with all media including water-based oils, mixed media, acrylics and 3-D sculpture.

She is a member of numerous North Shore Art Associations including Rockport, Danvers, Peabody, Reading, Salem and a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

She has received numerous awards for her paintings and has had many shows and exhibits in her native New England, including one on Newbury St., Boston in June 1999. She was the featured artist on Salem Access TV's "Artist Profile" from February until May 2000 and appeared on another art program that aired June 2001. In July 2003, she was featured on Channel 9 Boston in a program entitled "Being in the Moment with Art".  In Oct. 2003, she was the featured guest on "New England Talk" with Dr. Mavis Jaworsky. Her work is on display in her studio and at the following locations: Earthly Treasures, Bristol, NH, The Red Barn Market Place, Chocoura, NH, My Sister's Gallery, Sandwich, MA, and House of the Seven Gables, Salem, MA..

Paula develops and conducts workshops for adults and children in the US and abroad. The workshops in the US take place in her studio and in colleges, in school systems, community colleges, adult education programs, after school enrichment programs, vacation camps, assisted living and retirement communities, and at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. Her goal is to help people connect with their innate creativity as a source of personal growth, relaxation, and just plain fun.

Spring through fall, she holds outdoor watercolor workshops on the North Shore and on Monhegan Island in Maine.  For the sixth year, she will again be conducting her popular fall workshop at a gracious beach house on Monument Beach on Cape Cod. She has taken groups to France and the West Coast of Ireland in the past and will lead a trip to Umbria, Italy in May 2013. See Painting in Umbria, Italy and Painting Workshops in New England
for detailed information about these trips.

During the course of her career, she has worn many different hats. She is the author of several environmental books for children entitled Support Planet Earth and two picture books Bon jour/Hello and Kip's Discovery which she has written and illustrated.

While working for a toy company doing product design, she helped create children's games and activities. Two of the games received the National Parenting Publications Award. While working in educational publishing, she wrote and edited many educational materials for children and was a creative consultant for Silver Burdett Ginn, an educational publishing company.

Paula believes that all of her experience, both personal and professional, enhances her own creativity and the work she does with others helping them "be in the moment" as they learn to let their own unique creativity emerge.
